Just grab a 13in 1b mitt and you'll be gtg. I use it (but I've played 1st since I was in HS)

We make a custom 1st base Mitt designed for Softball. I really like the size compared to my 13inch Mizuno baseball 1B mitt.

i just use a 14" mizuno and it works great... i have a 15" mayhem, but that thing is rediculous, and not broken in yet

I have a 14" Nokona that feels like it was made just for softball. Rodriguez also makes a giant 1B mitt, if you want to go the custom route.

Yes and Yes.

The ones for softball tend to have a larger pocket than the ones for baseball to account for the difference in ball size.

You will probably want to stick with one in the 12.75" - 13" range. Anything smaller won't have a large enough pocket to be comfortable. If you consider yourself to have rather large hands, then a 13.5" or 14" would be more appropriate.

I suggest trying one in various sizes and brands to see which one(s) are the most comfortable and then shop the best price online starting here at the softballfans.com store.

I use a 13" Rawlings (http://www.rawlingsgear.com/softball/softball-gloves/ggfpfmbr-rh.html). I also liked the Louisville Slugger OXFB Omaha Pro Series (http://www.modells.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2839232&CAWELAID=129856450). Both were in the $75 range when I was looking earlier this year. On-line you should be able to find gloves in the $90 and up price range that are on sale in the $60- $90 range that are made out of a quality to leather and should last you a while.

I use a 13in Rawlings Gold Glove 1b Mitt. Broke in nicely, and I love using it. Scoops up everything. :DYay first post!:D

I use a Rawlings Silverback 1st base mitt. They are softball specific and I highly recommend them.

X2. I use the same 1b mitt and I like it a log. It took a little time to get it properly broken in, but it is now reaching the stage where it is very g2g.

Use a Mizuno MVP. Awesome glove. There's a world of difference playing the position with a 13" outfielder glove. Use it when catching, too, to shade the plate.

Haven't seen any "softball specific" 1st base gloves yet, but would be interested to try one if I could find it locally.

just go with the Vinci Pro JBV04 First Base Mitt, 13" and it works great

I used this glove for a bit at 1st. Never got the hang of a 1st base mitt, so I went back to my TJ1952-L at first.

Might have to pull out the JBV again and get some practice with it.

I used the silverback model SB1B for 3-4 Years until it needed a bunch of TLC, last year I picked up a Worth Liberty Advanced (12") and I have been using that ever since.

I have never used a regular glove at 1st, I don't know how some of you guys do it.
