BMB-L Initial Impressions

Leather - feels far different than any leather I have ever felt. Nokona leather (walnut especially) feels like leather. Whereas, Vinci leather feels more plastic-like (the some say the A2000's feel). With this being said, have never felt nor seen kip leather before, so this may be the norm. Leather feels thick, like a pillow. Not saying this is good or bad, just different.

Break-in - this may be the easiest glove I have ever broken in. I put the conditioner on, left the house for a couple of hours, and came back. Conditioner had already seeped into leather and seemed dry. Immediately tried squeezing glove, then began throwing a ball in glove. I can already squeeze this glove closed. I do not know what people are saying about these gloves being difficult to break-in, as I can already squeeze it closed with and without a ball. My Nokona's have been far more difficult to break-in at least at this initial stage.

Hand position - I put two in the pinkie and two in the ring finger. This makes it easier to close, so this may have aided in what I stated above.

Conclusion - this will be far different from anything I have ever tried. Very different from my Nokona's. Just hope I do not screw it up.

Advice - how do you keep from have a crease begin to form where you close your glove? Even if a ball is in there, it often times seems like a crease forms. Anyone else have this issue?

note - edited part of my initial post as I re-read it this morning and made no sense. Sorry, wrote it last night after being rather tired from my son's t-ball practice.

thanks longball - also, my issues with creases have come from past experiences with Nokona's, not necessarily from my Vinci...too early to know if this will occur...If I have one major issue with Nokona's it is that creases are too prevelant in them...I never lay my gloves flat, they are always either laying on the thumb and finger or with a ball in them too

Question - is there a rubber-type cushion in the finger stalls? never had this before; feels nice

The pinky and thumb has fiberglass finger stays in them. It's thick and aides in holding it's shape. Shoe shine method should help in not forming the crease. Also, when catching the ball, I pull the thumb to the pinky to get a deeper pocket. None of my gloves have creased.

Rumor has it this guy has broken in a glove or two in his time...

I have a couple of Nokona's in the house and I now use a BMB-M. I can agree with your assessment all around. Nokonas just smell like a leather shop and I want a leather jacket made out of the stuff they use (ok, maybe not the maroon Bloodline leather). I cannot say the same for the Vinci kip. However, nothing has given me the confidence on the mound like the BMB. While the Vinci actuallly took much less time to break in, it has stayed stiff in all the right places and I feel like I have better control over the glove than any other 13"+ glove I have used.

thanks MaverickAH - feels almost like a gel type padding on the side of my fingers...sort of like the gel-type padding you put in your shoes
