Do laces ever stay tied?

Why is it that laces constantly come untied on gloves? I'm always retying the damn things on mine and my kiddos gloves...at least daily, but more often when playing/practicing. Is there something to put on the leather laces to give 'em a little stick and perhaps only need a weekly retying? Curious.

Glove lace needs regular maintenance and tightening but, if they are untying alot you need to check your knots. Perhaps your not using the nap side up on your square knot?

You're probably not tightening them hard enough. I've came across some that were hard to untie even with a pair of needle nose. It also depends on the quality of lace (the softer is more likely to stay tied than stiff, plasticy lace).

Since there are two ways to tie a square knot, you could try the reverse and that'll help out.

You can try getting them wet and then tieing them real tight. When they dry out they'll be sealed up pretty good.

i had a teammate once tell me the same thing about getting them wet before tying them, but i never tried it out. He always sees me fiddling with my knots and now it's become a bit of a superstitious thing for me :)

I relaced my glove with rawlings laces and they came undone hella bad, so I superglued the knots. It seeps in and locks em up tight. I'll have to cut them off if I ever decide that they need to come off. I did not super glue my thumb strap one, just tied a square knot and tucked the tag ends under the knot. It has held too, but it is the OG lace.
