BB check out the SSUSA message board. There just happens to be a discussion on there about the same malady.......

The frozen water bottle works very well. I also have to agree with the chiropractor. It can hurt like hell when they are massaging it out but the relief after is well worth it.

You need rest and some good insoles. I light massage here and there wouldn't hurt. I struggled for a year or so.

Good insoles and good ankle support are key. I have a pair in my cleats because it flares up in the summer when I tend to wear flip flops or bare feet more often.

Tennis ball stretch or foam roller use is very helpful.

Can you explain how added ankle support prevents plantar fascia problems?

My podiatrist told me that between a decent arch support and a shoe that provided decent ankle support I could minimize the pronation my feet were doing. So I didn't mean upper ankle, basketball shoe type support.

Had it for 6 months, I tried everything mentioned and more. I bought a pair of Nike Free Run's...went away within a week.

There are many things you can do to treat your plantar fasciitis. I had a bad case of plantar fasciitis for about a year and I discovered that treatment is individual. Things that work for one will not always work for the other. The good news is that you have many treatments you can try but you must be persistent and patient. For me it was taping that accelerated my healing
I have found a good plantar fasciitis treatment review website in this link.
There are many self care treatments ideas in there but I think you should consult a podiatrist before you do something.
Icing or cold therapy is used to reduce inflammation so if you want to reduce your pain symptom you can apply ice. I also prefer to roll a frozen water bottle.

Well working my normal gig then standing at a show from 2-9, 1-9, 10-9, and 10-5 is what got it flamed. I did notice my calves have been tight in the Am over the last few months. I got some of the Dr sholes insoles and these....

A week later I feel better but still notice a bit of sting in my left heel especially in the AM

Foam roll the posterior chain, stretch, and massage your feet and ankles. A baseball or softball will work, but I sometimes prefer using my hands.

Have you had an MRI to try to determine the root cause of your plantar fasciitis? I was having trouble with severe symptoms back in 2009-10 and saw a specialist. The MRI revealed that two of the three ligaments on the outside of my left ankle anterior (talofibular ligament and posterior talofibular ligament) were completely torn. Reflecting back, I could recall two separate injuries that occurred in my recent past, either one of which could have been the root cause. Over time, my improper healing of THOSE injuries led to my plantar fasciitis. The doctor (Dr. Robert Lim) constructed two synthetic ligaments out of nylon and anchored them with titanium screws.

The point here isn't that I think you have missing or ruptured ligaments in YOUR ankle. Rather, I'm suggesting that the root cause of your plantar fasciitis pain may be from a related defect, potentially an undiagnosed ankle injury. It's worth looking into.

BTW: I was back playing softball in under 6 weeks. Rehab on conventional ankle reconstruction (even partial) used to be 6 MONTHS. This procedure was invented by the doctor that performed it, and I haven't had a single flair-up of plantar fasciitis pain since.

I have PF and it is miserable. I got some good turfs (mizuno 9 blasts) and I got some custom made insoles from the VA docs and it helped out quite a bit. The only thing that seems to help is rest, but then it comes back when you start becoming active again. The insoles help the best though I can really tell a difference when I wear them. The best thing I can say is to take care your feet on and off the field, really stretch before a game and after. Good luck
