pass rush doesn't help if you can't stop the run......which is why i dont like KC's chances. which was my point....
i agree w/ you about Dak and it's why i'm not as high on him as eveyrone.....he's been great in situations but he's also in a great situation and last week, played about as well as i've seen anyone play and he was pressured but i dont buy it come crunch time in the playoffs. He's still a rookie and he'll still choke like all rookies do at some point......but he's gotta be put in that situation.
I like Oaklands chances much much greater than KC's vs. Dallas......
and what bmore does has no bearing on my opinion....they're differnet and they always have been. they hit people harder than anyone else and the game is played differently when they're on the field. grittiest, meanest, nastiest team in the nfl every single year.....i'ts incredible
Well, Oakland has a vastly superior QB, for starters. You can't overstate how Carr has changed the Raiders whole organization. He's an MVP candidate (I would vote for Ryan, then Brady, then Carr, the Elliott, in that order).
Smith is the stopgap that stuck around. Anyway, what the Ravens did is a blueprint, no matter what you think, Suggs and company don't have some magical negro powers that topple quarterbacks. Its just a pass rush from the edge, like every other team.
What I saw:
Effective edge rushing in the first quarter made Prescott move his feet. He can't make Wilson/Rodgers "compromised" throws where he's accurate while actually being contacted. You don't have to crush him, just make him move. On the move, not accurate. Don't confuse the ability to run for first downs with accurate mobile passing. There are "mobile" guys who don't run, for one, and guys who run around and are still accurate (Wilson, Ben too, Tyrod actually), and then mobile guys who are inaccurate as hell on the move (Kaep, Griffin). Prescott did NOT like being moved around.
Second half, the Baltimore run D was stout up the middle all day, but the edges frayed and Elliott started punishing them outside. All the effective runs were outside. Once the LBs widened and the D line spread out to keep contain to Dak couldn't run, suddenly Elliott had stretch runs where his blockers made holes. Add to that a key 3rd and 6 pickup where Beasley ended up single covered by a LB, and it was curtains.
Its all about matchups. Create and exploit mismatches. "Genius" coaches just find a way. Garrett is lucky in that his roster creates its own mismatches without him having to think of new ones. Anyway, Dak is gonna have a rocky postseason I bet, even if Dallas cruises to the SB, any of the 3 good AFC West teams would IMO knock the **** out of him. That said, Dallas would handily smoke New England, since they're utterly unable to stop a run game.
