Pitcher hit in the face omfg

He must be special and not bleed when he breaks his nose.

I broke my nose once playing basketball, and didn't bleed at all. Had a headache for like three days, and finally went in and got x-rays, which showed a fracture.

I hope the bat was taken after this happened. From the looks of it that is a ASA ball too. Classic M and he might be dead right now.

Stop with the knee-jerk "it must be shaved" crap. I drilled a pitcher in the heart with my stock SSR2, guy had no chance, surprised I didn't give him heart failure.

Wasn't intentional, just wasn't used to endload on the Speed. There's plenty of pop in the best stock ASA bats to ruin the better part of the rest of your life.

Gettin' Zapped!
If that was a fake pic... They went a long way to make it real - rubber gloves, badged employee, bedside toilet, etc.

Blood? The ball probably bounced away after it hit the face. Was it supposed to come to a complete stop once it hit the face and rest in pool of blood or something? Come on...

Speedy recovery to your teammate!

I didn't know we had so many MDs in here.

Lots of Google MDs on here, including me. I say it's a piece of the nasal...damn

At least one actual MD replied.

I hope this isn't real, and I know it's an exaggeration. There are 14 facial bones.

Pitcher last night in Bloomington Wisconsin got a ball hit right back to his face. Broke 20 bones and the pic is a piece of his nose bone stuck in the ball. Just another reason to wear a mask. It was UA ball too. Even more unpredictable in my opinion. Lucky to be alive.

I'm going from a guy who was there and road with him to the ambulance. By bones broke he might have meant fractures or something. It's legit. That is bone in the ball. So hate all u want but dude isn't gonna lie about something like that. Idk what he was swinging but I told him to get it checked. He told me dude that swung the bat couldn't barely do anything he was in shock.

29 oz, you say?
A fractured bone is the same thing as a broken bone. There is zero difference.

I'm wondering if maybe it "shattered" the bones in that area, and maybe there were 20 pieces?

You can have multiple fractures in the same bone. Done it in my ankle more than once.

True, but then he wouldn't have "20 broken bones," he'd just have 20 fractures. 20 broken bones implies 20 separate bones were broken.

I had a buddy from high school that was an awesome pitcher, and his senior year he took a line drive back to the face. Messed him up pretty good. Dr's said an inch or two any other direction on his face and it might have killed him. Ended up having a titanium plate put in his face. Now, you can't even tell it happened, modern medicine is an amazing thing. I actually play against him in our league here in town now, hell of a player.

Do you want the guys number? I'm not bs here. Guy pitching was named Mike. I wish someone from bloomington was on here.

Hum it in there
I imagine it was 20 different fractures. Either way best of luck with the recovery. Post some pics of the damage so i can convince my pitcher to get a mask.

If this pic is legit, that has to be the most brutal injury photo posted on here. Can only imagine what his face looked like.

You actually sandwiched your sympathy between some buns of hate if you read it correctly :D

No hatred from me, honestly, but it just didnt all add up. Id hate to see anyone get that injured playing a game they like/love to play, it would be a shame.

This is what I am saying. If the bone splintered off into the ball he has to be ****ed up, no matter how you put it.

^^^ Except the pitcher should have more than enough time to back up in UA ball, since the ball is in the air for a significant amount of time...you have enough time to move back at least 10' (closer to 15') and still ready yourself to field. Problem you see is that pitchers watch their own pitch instead of backing up and readying themselves.

Not sure on the ball but I'm pretty sure it was 12 inch and Ua is unlimited arc. Good hitters can still place the ball somewhat in ua. But your mediocre guys that just swing hard usually spray the ball anywhere and you can never be sure where its going.

That's brutal, and I hope he gets well quickly. I broke 3 ribs of a 2B that was shifted to cover up behind the pitcher as my hit before was up the middle hard grounder past the pitcher. This was in my 2005 Special Olympics Provincial games. Plus the sad thing was that the 2B glove opening was facing his body, so he tried to flip his glove over to catch his glove. But all he did was push the ball up higher when it hit his body. I was using my 30oz. stock 2005 F2.
