Pitchsafe protective screens

The Madness
Well, after six years or so it appears that my Juggs Lite Flite, quick snap pitching screen is finally breaking down. I might have to replace it.

I was thinking of trying out the pitchsafe screen because it appears more portable but the downsides are the cost and the protective area is smaller.

Any proud owners of the pitchsafe screen out there? Does the company discount these at all?

I've seen a conference player pound on one of these with one ball after another and it never missed a beat. Said he'd had it 5 years and it looked new. If I ever quit being so tight I'm going to buy one of these. The $329 is a tough price to pay. :(

The Jugs is a wider and a helluva lot cheaper. I might go that route again.

Pitchsaf is a great pickup. I got one used from a teammate for a steal. Definitely shows some wear and has a little lean to it but it functions perfectly. I can definitely see the reservations in spending that much when theres a cheaper alternative but can you really put a price on safety?

I am looking to buy one too, I need the one that is most portable and quickest to assemble. Is the pitch safe this?

Yepp. Folds down into its base which is like 5 inches by 5 inches by 36" wide. Assembles in 30 seconds.

The pitchsafe doesn't seem that sturdy and its not very wide. If you have a beefy BP pitcher I'm not sure it could totally protect him.

If you're wider than 36" you better cut some L-B's. A wider screen is not your solution.

Happy pitchsafe owner here.....it's the ultimate when it comes to tourneys and travel. So convenient and fast to setup and top quality.

My shoulders are very wide, played LB. But not 36 inches. I should be good if its 36. Plus I can pitch and turn sideways!

Ive had one for years. Best money you could spend on bp. Plenty of room to get behind. Only problem I could think of is the height. Im 6ft and its just tall enough for me. Any taller and a ball over your head will be close.

Pitchsafe is the best out there. It will last for years and take a pounding. I bought one to protect guys pitching to me during BP sessions + if I pitch at 6'4" 245# big frame I'm perfectly safe using the screen. Set up and breaks down quickly. Replacement parts are quickly available if ever needed - ususally after years of brutal treatment by high powered teams. It's about the only screen I've seen used by teams that travel.

It's conveniently sized. My softball chaser car was a sports car & I could get 2 big Diamond buckets, pitchsafe, and my Boombah bag in the trunk along with a small cooler.

I take BP with big guys (both tall and wide) and theyve never had an issue with not having enough protection.

How quick does the jugs set up and break down? Serious question.

This is why I would go pitch safe....

I have a bownet big mouth for my daughters travel team. I bought the addition protection net, it uses the same bug mouth frame but not as wide. We used it for BP last week for the first time. I had sever hot shot come at me and I was really happy on the protection it gave me. I spent about 180 for everything, the best thing about it is how quick n easy it is to assemble. Fits nice in the small carry bag which is about the length of my roller bag.

This year we use that screen in all our games (not to my liking) and they setup and breakdown easily.

My only thought is that it seems kind of narrow for a BP screen.

Curious where your Juggs is breaking down at? The metal frame on mine is cracked on the base piece......wondering if that is a common thing with them. Mine is on it's 7th summer though and still going strong.

That being said, I'd stick with the Juggs personally. Those of you talking safety is the reason to go with the PS are clueless as the Juggs provides more coverage so if "safety" is your main concern then you are selling the Juggs more than the PS.

PS is a little more convenient but IMO not twice the price convenient. My Juggs goes up/comes down in about 2-3 minutes, not all that inconvenient. The one thing (besides the crazy price) I don't like about the PS is the box it comes in is attached so BP balls get hit off it and the loud noise annoys me. Guys who don't hit so hard probably would love it though as it makes every hit off it sound like a screamer

C'mon I've hit that thing so hard on the top bar that it's rocked back & the balls lined by the base (your "noisey" part) rolled underneath and were under the base suspending the thing on it's balls (ouch) - only time anyone remember seeing it done. We had a pitcher (HOF) that it became part of a trademark if we hit the base (making your annoying noise) -(because the ball was miss-hit) we'd say "sorry Al" whether Al (AC) was there or not.... The shots to the base alone would shift/move most of the other screens back toward the pitcher and force them to be repositioned/or hit by the frame ..... pitchsafe does have a wider screen also.... but at my size I feel safe behind the standard one - if you're a Clydesdale - Water Buffalo - or Brahma you might want to go to the widescreen version. If you're human the regular size will work fine.

And - ah yes - it's fun to put the over sized fishnet stocking on some of the other screens - gets worse when you don't have it just right and a couple of guys decide to "help" you.....then you just sit back and watch because you've kinda-sorta have an idea about how you screwed it up in the first place - but the experts are here now.....

My two cents, love my juggs. Best money I've ever spent for softball.

No - screen was lifted like that but 5 or 6 of the balls rolled under the base and high centered it. There were a ton of balls behind the base so I'm guessing they were forced forward under the base itself. Two guys had to lift the screen while another herded the balls back.

Good slo-mo video though - the screen took it instead of the guy pitching

That was me pitching and jared717 swinging haha. Yeah you can see one ball roll up under the screen but due to the pitchers mound being a bowl its hard to actually see the screen sitting on said ball lol

Yep.....

It's amazing how much impact they actually take. Yeah - when it rocked up all the balls came down in a line like a row of teeth or a pin setter and seemed to happen in slo-mo.

I only remember one person close enough to the pitchsafe - close enough that the ball impacted him....have done it a few times with other nets/screens driven the ball into the netting (looser netting) and have it contact the pitcher - but when the net has done it's job & the ball contacts someone behind it it's their fault not the screens.....

Received replacement pitch safe cross bar which is now metal. Diameter of billet? does not fit into upper pole? Suggestions for fix? Reduction sleeve, etc?
