Unhappy with Demarini - looking for recommendation...

I bought a doublewall Demarini 28 oz B52 from Sports Authority and really don't care for it at all. It feels like I am hitting marshmellows.

I am a a Utrip league using 44 375s. I am in Florida and it is almost always over 90 degrees and high 90s humidity.

I am 5'10' 195 pounds, and while I am not auditioning for underarmor commercials, I am athletic and quite sure some better equipment will enable me to hit the ball a bit further.

With my limited knowledge of bats, and some extensive reading here...I have narrowed down to the Freak Limited, Freak Plus and Superfreak Maxload (which I can only find one place but seems to be well-liked here).

I think a 34/26 should do the trick.

Does anyone have any advice on which bat would work better with the ball and heat/humidity where the bat will be used? Does it even matter?

Also, would I regret the 1 oz endload on the super freak over the .3 oz endload on the freak plus given that I think the 28 oz bat I am swinging feels just a tiny smidge like it is costing me batspeed?

I would go with the Freak Limited or a Psycho SuperMaxx. Are you dead set on having an endloaded bat? The reason I ask that questions is b/c I have fell in love with my Balanced 28ox Psycho and have the 26oz Psycho SuperMaxx and I still perfer the Balanced version over the Maxload, but both feel very close in overall weight.

Not to presuade you one way or the other, but in 90 degree heat, with .44/375 balls, no composite is gonna help you in anyway. I would have suggested a white steel instead.

Yeah...I am pounding the ball and it is going NOWHERE. Sooo frustrating.

White Steel you say? (screams in his own head with frustration after reading for HOURS on composite bats :) ) So you are saying that I should go from a doublewall demarini to a singlewall DeMarini a couple ounces lighter?

Since I have ZERO clue, I am not doubting you. I was just hoping to buy a "magic stick" and all my shots would be HR shots :) .

You have 2 end loaded bats and 1 balanced. which do you prefer? Out of what you have listed I like the LE There are a few people giving the super freak some good reviews I just haven't swung 1 because of the end load. It is all in what you prefer. Grab a miken and enjoy they wont let you down.

Re-phrased question:

Will the Miken freaks outperform the White Steel for 44 cor 375 comp balls in 90+ heat and 90%+ humidity?

I think I kinda understand what the term "Mush Ball Killer" now means after seeing it several hundred times on this forum. :)

Oh man...I am gonna be sick. Researching the White steel led me to some threads about Mush Balls. turns out that Many, Many, Many people recommend the Demarini 375...which, it appears, is the exact same bat as the B52 I have that is exclusive to Sports Authority.

Sooooo, I am swinging one of the most recommended bats for 44 cor 375s already. Is the White Steel or anything else an upgrade given the ball and environment here? In other words...should I grab some steriods and quit looking for a magic bat ? :)

.44/375 isn't necessarily a mush ball. Mikens will be an upgrade and give you better performance because of the stiff handle. If you like swinging a sledge hammer, go with a Supermax. If you like a mild endload, go with a Maxload. If you do not like endload, go with a balanced bat.

A lot has to do with bats speed THROUGH the ball. Going with a lighter bat, may allow you to hit better through the ball. The 28oz might be slowing down your swing at contact, thus losing distance.

I went with the Miken Super Freak Maxload. 1 oz endload 34/26.

It is two ounces lighter with a big endload. I am guessing it will feel like I am swinging a 26.5 to 27 oz balanced.

We shall see. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and feedback. Most appreciated.

I suggested the white stell cause a lot of guys will use it n Florida in the heat of the day. You'll see them at tournies when it is blistering hot as well. There is no cure all for you and yes, the ball will also make the differenece. Not sure about that worth your using, but if it falls into a safety ball class, your requested results will be null and void. Nothing will help if those come from the saferty line. The steel flexes alot in the heat, more so than some aluminum, but I will rserve any further comments since to many factors like ball info is missing.

super

I see you said you went with the SF. You will not be disappointed in that bat if you give it chance to open up before decide you don't like it. I had one until it broke and loved it, but it took sometime to break in and we use a slightly better ball up here. Use it in all bp's to start once you feel like the ball is starting to come off better or it gets a small rattle stop using it for bp and only for games. Try to not make it a team bat after that also, unless you can get people to chip in with ya on the cost

Where's Larsen?
The hillarious part about all of this is that he is unhappy with DeMarini because he bought a B52 from Sports Authority which is an ASA double wall bat and is trying to compare it to a U-trip composite SuperFreak.

That is like saying I am unhappy with Miken because I paid full retail for a Viper, so I decided to go with a Dan Smith Combat.

In my personal opinion, I would go with a Psycho Maxload if Miken was your only choice.

44 375 isnt mush. all utrip MIkens are top notch these days and cant really go wrong with any of them. depending if you like endload, balanced etc.
