looking for information about this bat. Found a date of 9-11-02 under the grip. Has 27 in white writing (weight) and 24.7 in red writing also were found under the grip. Also looks like the serial number is 9232179, a few numbers are tough to make out though. Model msu2

I’ve heard some of these can be rare/valuable if they are the right ones. I can’t use it, it was just given to me by a friend. He stopped playing in 2003 so it has barely been used

Not as valuable as they used be. New senior bats perform just as good as the OG ASA UII . Dates you really want are July and August of 2002.

Need pict for real value
Was there not some serial #s that were actually Ultras?

Having trouble trying to post pictures, they all seem to be too big but here are a few that will go thru

Lmk if you want to sell it. The recessed bubble knob’s were painted over U1s. You could see the grey just below the black under the grip. Most of those had a 23.9 or less shell weight without endcap and handle rod. Most if not all of the U1s with the star had a shell weight of 23.9 or less. All the older model Ultras were hot as fire but IMO the 23.9 shell weights were better and a lot more durable. Yours has 24.7 shell weight. There should also be some other etched numbers and letters just above the etched date. These are also significant as far as how hot and durable the bat is. Miken had 3 guys making bats at this time. The first # will be a 3 or 4 or 5. This # was the day of the week. This will be followed by the initials of which guy did the bat. I can’t remember the exact pecking order but there was a difference in the pop and durability on all 3 bats made by the 3 different guys.

Not serial numbers you are looking for it’s the MFG dates. The serial number is created after the bat is completed . You have to know what you are looking for. Need pict of handle . There were some Ultra’s that were returned because they were banned. Some of those good bats were reweighted to pass as UII and were repainted as UII and sold as new bats

Here a few more, trying to get some where it’s more legible but it’s not very readable

Mike. Those U1 with the star , from my understanding were sponsored team bats that’s why the 23.9 shell weight .they got all the good thin shells.

So is this just a regular Ultra 2 with the ASA stamp?

JMO but these and the no stamp U2’s are more durable. These take a little longer to get to max pop and last longer once you get there. The newer models break in quicker but I stopped buying them because they cracked at around 200-250 cuts. I’ve never gotten less than 500 cuts out of an ASA or no stamp U2.

this is what I look for, a JULY date or an AUGUST date of 2002, and the grey primer, and the obvious the recessed bubble knob

they are still not broken in red one is starting to get fire the yellow is still stiff. the two guys I got them from said the did not swing them much .

red knob 7-21-02

I think I just wet myself...

I have a couple repaints(haven't pulled the grip off of a few others so could be more) but not the recessed sticker kind....actually I don't think I've seen recessed since back in the day

Are 30oz Ulta 2's rare? I haven't tore off the original handle yet to check it's ''birthday"... After reading this thread and the good info provided, I'm getting curious. Mine has the paper sticker on the knob just like in the pic listed earlier. And the 2000 ASA sticker in 2 places and the ISF BPF 1.20 sticker next to one of the ASA stickers.
