2020 Johnny Bailey vs 2021 Johnny Bailey

1st off let me start out by saying that the 2021 is NOT a 2020 repaint it is nothing close. Miken did some tweaking but they should of left it alone.

After hitting with the 2020 I was like dammm this thing is the nasty sickest am going to name it the RONA (after the coronavirus).

Well after hitting with the 2021 its more like ...... your ok am just going to name you temperature 290

Field I was hitting at was on the smaller side right and left was 290 with center at 300 balls used was a mix of Xrocks and Evil's 44/375 most on the newer side. After putting on 80 hits on the 2021 all I was able to get to go yard was 2 @ around 315 - 320. The 2021 will not break in fast like the 2020 so far the 2021 still feels stiff and sweet is not there yet so its still going to need a ton of more hits on it also the 2021 just has a different feel to it I cant put m finger on it but I can tell its not a 2020 and does not come close to the performance.

The biggest downfall was the 2021 started to have a rattle around the 25 hit mark, now I do not know if this is a good thing or bad because this is the 1st bat I have own that has a rattle after all these years and bats I have used so if someone can let me know if the rattle is a good or bad.

Now before I pack up and got ready to leave the park I grab my 2020 with my last ball in the bag and I know its not a fair compare the 500 hits 2020 to a under 85 hits 2021 but just one swing with the 2020 at 345 - 355 feet well I think this sums it all up.

Thanks.

I was curious about the 2021 Bailey as well.

You're the 3rd person that has told me they don't measure up to the 2020 Bailey.

Just hit my 2020 and 2021side by side . The 2021 takes a bit longer to break in . I finely got my 200 swings with 52/275 on my 2021. My 2020 has about 200 swings but with a mix of balls 2020 is game ready . 2021 was not game ready at 200 swings with 52’s . .

today we had 2 buckets of 50 balls , a mix of 44/375 thunders , 40/325 gold dot extremes , and evil BP rockets 44/400 .

1st round took about 15 swings with my KP to get loose . Grabbed 2021 Bailey next, first 10 swings not much but balls were exiting good no distance . Took about 10 more swings and the sound started to change . Couple in the 325 range . I switched to the 2020 for about 6 swings all were 300+ so I quit finished with the KP .

round 2 started with the 2021, first few swings were liners and a couple in the area of 325 the sound stared to really change . Switched to the 2020 took about 15 swings bunch of nice line drives and 2 in the 350 range . Then shut her down I did not want to blow her up . Back to the 2021 for about 25 more swings . The bat really started to open up and the sound changed again . I hit 2 that I know were in the 375 range.

My opinion it is the same bat but the paint is better on the 2021 making break in a bit longer .the 2020 gets hot faster . No webbing so far around 275 swings on the 2021she is game ready now .Have a tourney tomorrow. Will swing both.

put BP in with 52’s on the 2021 you will be rewarded when you start hitting league or tourney balls . if you are looking for a hot bat after 50 swings the 2021 is not that bat. It takes a little longer to get to the 2020 hotness

I swung neither, but that sounds about right. At the end of the day, all bat are hot with very little margin. I mean, it's just matter of time which one comes first.

Nice for myself I tend to like the 2020 paint :)

3rd round of BP with the 2021 same park same balls used. The 2021 started to open a little more I would say I have now about 200 hits on it and hit some in the 340 range. Sweet spot is still not their and still cant match the distance or exit speed of the 2020, it looks like its going to still take a lot more swings to break in but again this is my thoughts and feels only but Miken did tweak it in some way and not in a good way. Not impress yet because its not living up to the 2020 performance.

I think it’s the paint . Two totally different finishes .my changed gears at 300 swings . It’s game only now .
:) So far the 2021 will be used for getting on base the 2020 for when am up and someone is on base and need to get them in or go yard.

I'll take her out with poptoss and see how it stands against srv5 and long star. but i know senior bats are on a different level.

Oh yeah ! :) how many hits on your SRV5 ? I know they get hot after tons of hits but most senior bats you will see the difference right away.

srv5 needs another 500 to 1000. all the balls i have are pretty much mush, so it might take longer. if it was winter, it would've been a different story.

so, i went out and hit some balls. I liked it a lot. I mean it feels so right in my hand swinging 27oz. Performance wise, there's no contest. Salvo needs another 1000 hits. long star need to break-in more. It was expected. I think the margin would have been even bigger if i was hitting decent 44 balls. all i have is pretty much little better than a ball of socks. i wish i still have denny crine so i can compare it side by side. that bat before it broke was insane, at least 15 to 25 ft more. also ignore the post about me saying utrip bats are on par with seniors. when you hitting socks, it's kinda hard to tell but fresh 44 will definitely let you know why senior bats are senior bats.

i'll try to post some video next time, i think since i am hitting socks, jb should be alright.

one thing i didn't like about jb is that, the sweet spot is toward the middle, not endcap. but once you connect that sweet spot, boy. it's gone.

Here's my take... I'm friends with JB, but not hesitant to comment on a bat. IMHO, these JB models are remarkably guaranteed Sr. bats. I prefer a 12" model in all Sr. bats. I have both the '20 & '21, I have (4) '20 and (2) '21... all 28oz, don't swing anything lighter...

The '20, once it is broken in, it is a beast of a bat its has durability along with an amazing distance the furthest at 380' with excellent exit velocity speed. My 1st '20 bat is on fire has about 300 BP hits and only for game use, distance range in 360' the 1st '21 is also fully broken in with 200 BP hits on it distance range @ 370'

IMHO, the '21 were made to break in much quicker than the '20, the barrel is much softer than the '20 models.

I imagine there will be testing of Sr. bats in the future, along with a newer BPF stamp, like what is happening with the newer U-Trips bats There is a weight difference between the two on a postal scale without the grip '20: (3) @ 28oz (1) 28.1oz, The '21 both at 27.7 oz...
side note: all of the '20 bats have a noticeable rattle sound, not sand-like. None so far on the 21'

My buddy and I, we hit a mix of BP balls, 52's, 44's, Sr. Rocks, & Evil BP 44's 52's twice a week. about 100 hits on different Sr. models like the SunCoast Melees and the Miken/Worth Sr. bats

Latest BP session 3 rounds about 150 swings.with both JB’s . Put about 50 on both .
Both are hot 2020 about 300 no spiral some webbing . 2021 about 500 swings now 2 parallel spirals bat changed gears again and sweet spot getting bigger .

At this point the 2020 is more forgiving the sweet spot is the whole barrel . 2021 sweet spot is still smaller than 2020 but when hit it is rewarding .

I actually like the way the 2021 feels and swings . The 2020 seems light . 2021 feels like the whole barrel is weighted as to the 2020 it’s more towards the end .

Just got done watching Senior Softball Bat Review on YouTube and they are saying it took them 1500+ hits to get the 2021 JB on FIRE ! Also that it has a heavier handle weight which makes it swing a little different than the 2020, the heavier handle weight will take away from the whip speed. But after 1700 hits on theirs they are raking it #3 on there list and that is way up there. Well again am not to impress with 2021 but I think know I know why I just need a million in one hits on mine.
