I beleive it was Donnie Meader who pitched with the Tighe Club, the other guy that pitched for Stafford was Ronnie Burns who was the best I've ever seen.
I think too much emphasis on what pitching is considered legal/illegal has killed and continues to kill men's modified and fastpitch game. Especially at the league or C tournament level. It prevents young pitchers from wanting to even bother. It is not an easy thing to take up, at least for the vast majority of would be pitchers.
what exactly is modified 10 man?? i played fp but havent played or head of 10 man modified in my area...
Greg,
gary thomas? really?
no doubt the man was very good and one of the toughest I ever faced but he practically threw sidearm. I know the legality rules were changed year to year, tourny to tourny, but I would've hoped someone even remotely legal would get nominated before him, Ralph Mish aside.
there was a guy who played in the 70's and 80's(maybe the 90's too). threw really hard with a real hard nuckler.....name escapes me at the moment. My Dad says he was the best pitcher he ever faced/saw. including Ralph
I'm not trying to knock Gary Thomas, but I wouldnt consider him the best I ever saw, but he was the 2nd most "illegal" to the lefty on ....Stafford tire?... white and orange team from boston area...been around forever? that guy did throw sidearm
Frank C
can anyone tell me where these big national tournaments are? Ive been pitching for about 3 years now and the best ive seen is drifton. im pretty new to the game but can hold my own pitching so im thinking about next level... but first ive got to see it!

Maybe we can take some of those Jackwagons to Namby Pamby Land and give them some self confidence and legal bats.
Who would be the two WI teams? We picked Wiley up for Memorial Day in New York a few years ago. His motion is legit 10 Man. Solid pitcher good speed and has movement. And he got real drunk and bought our table dinner and drinks.
I am going to start recruiting for the 4th of July right after the New Year. I already had a few board bros ask about it. I would like to do 4 MI teams and 6 out of state teams. Right now preliminary talks it looks like 2 WI teams and 1 PA team for sure and possibly a second PA team. Wiley's team and I would like to get a New York team back. Black Indians or Fort Apache.
I would argue that Todd Albrecht (also known as Odie) is as legal as they get. I can think of only one National Tournament in the last 5-10 years where he has been called illegal, and that was on his home field in Fon du Lac in 2009.binks is more legal than anyone on here, and anyone who says that he isnt is full or crap
Who would be the two WI teams?
TPS (since they were there last year) and ??? The Box??
I thought this might be an interesting thread to start up.
Who are the best legal modified pitchers still playing the game today (10 man style - No slingers)?
Thought Starters:
ASA 2010 All American Pitchers: Jim Moats, Ray Randall, David Kwaiser
ASA 2009 All American Pitchers: Ken Menale, Ray Randall, Mike Seibel
ASA 2008 All American Pitchers: Chris McCauliffe, Ken Menale, Jim Moats
ASA 2007 All American Pitchers: Todd Albrecht, Ray Randall, Bobby Greene
ASA 2006 All American Pitchers: Dean Martin, Todd Albrecht, Ken Menale
The national championship is on the line, who do you want on the mound?
Agreed. Odie is definitely one of the better active legal modified pitchers in the country. I also agree that he knows when he can get away with opening it up a little bit, but all good pitchers will tell you they do the same thing.I would argue that Todd Albrecht (also known as Odie) is as legal as they get.
