Look at your legs and feet here. You're robbing yourself of power by not getting your legs/hips involved. This was a line drive to the screen. Imagine how much harder it would've been hit with more of your lower body into the swing.

I agree.. get more legs/hips into it and follow through a little.

It looks like you might be trying to cut the ball a little too much. Most of the balls hit hit the ground before the pitcher. He wasn't really giving you anything to hit though either. Level the swing out just a tad so you hit more line drives than grounders.

footwork needs A LOT of work. I'm guessing you're pushing 280lbs so with the proper mechanics you'll be killing the ball. Currently you're taking a wussy swing and getting no power behind it. throw you hands at the ball, whip your hips through the zone like your banging a porn star. you're dropping your hands before you swing

slow down the pitch rate. the rapid fire stuff is only teaching you bad habits. tell him not to throw until you're set.

Slow down, work on mechanics, repetition, repetition. Get a better pitcher that fool is not helping you at all.

You have quick hands which is really good but it has allowed you to get lazy with your lower half.
I am guessing you hit some good line drives, you plane is good but with the strong hands taking over it levels out and you are contacting the ball just a bit high so instead of gappers and hr you hit those solid line drives.
Get a tee and work on getting the lower half in sync with the top half.
Really work on pushing off with the back foot, put the tee a foot farther in front than you normally would so you have to really go get the ball.
Take just 10-15 swing with the tee then take your regular bp, you should see very good results pretty quick.

Hey stretch out your chest or start doing some back workouts.

I think he didn't do a full swing in benefit of not killing his friend.;)

I know you are talking BP and all, but if you swing at good pitches in BP and let the bad ones go by it will help you swing at good pitches in the games.

James, Is the bat heavy? You need a big bat.

When we say turn the hips, what I am trying to say is that you should be able to turn your belly button to the pitcher, but you haven't committed to swinging, yet. You can go "hip turn" and stop and you essentially haven't "broke your wrists."

Also, you are way too tall in the batter's box. Get some bend in the knees and bend in the back. You need to be able to "uncoil" so to speak. Don't reach with your arms, bend to the ball.

I agree with the poster that said your check swings are better than your real cuts, especially about 29 second into it.

Get set, breath in. Exhale when you swing and let the bat finish high toward your left shoulder. You want to be getting the ball up and out of there.

thats def your prob. seems like your scared to swing through the ball. use your size to your advantage use it all.

Also, you have very little negative move. Get set, with your hands higher than they are now, do not drop the hands. Then, you need to transfer your weight backwards, in order to shift your weight forward. So, the pitch is coming - you want to "show your pocket" to the pitcher, then stride, turn hips and hit the ball, when it is out in front of the plate. If the pitch is outside, you bend to reach it - not drop the hands.

Do you know about releasing your wrists like you are using a hammer?

although your mechanics could improve youve got a good natural whip in your swing. def beats my 185' shots.

Looks like you have very strong forearms and that is all you use in your swing. Need to lean back on back leg and thow some weight into your swing. Get those hips all the way around. Really work on your follow through. Hit through the ball and wrap that bat around your back.
