for some reason i think texas or LAD will make a splash.

if nyy wants to keep that luxury tax low, then they're going to have to do a whole heck of a lot to make that happen. offhand, arod - 30mm, jeter - 10mm, ellsbury - 25mm, texeira - 20mm, mccann - 15mm, soriano - 20mm, pretty sure they still have wells' 25mm

cano will be at least 25, just doesn't quite add up to me

i just heard on the radio a list of all the MLB contracts that average $20m a season, and they are all pretty much horrendous.

Only decent ones were Manny's first contract, CC's first NY contract, and Arod's first contract w Texas. The rest are atrocious highlighted by Crawford, Johan, and Ryan Howard. And the ones that have yet to kick in (Votto 2014-2023 and Braun in 2016) don't look good either.

Hamilton, Pujols, Lincecum, Hamels....there are some god awful contracts out there.

Mulder, Zito, Haren, have done alright. Get em while they are young and having fun still, and then they leave and the pressure gets to them maybe? Playing for Oakland would be fairly fun for a player minus the sewage in the dugouts and low pay. Mostly seem to have a good vibe.

3:07pm: The Mariners may have topped the Yankees' offer to Cano, a source tells Anthony McCarron of the New York Daily News. That same source indicated to McCarron that the Mariners are pursuing Cano "guns-a-blazing," and making the pitch to Cano that he can either be a Yankee legend or be a baseball legend by helping the Mariners win their first World Series.

if randy johnson, griffey, edgar, arod, and jay buhner can't... surely this mother****er will be able to do all of what they did and then some.

At 37, he's still an above average OF. He would be an upgrade for nearly every team in the MLB, especially factoring in his offensive production. He gets good jumps and has a rifle.

come to the Bronx.
