When the strategic situation calls for it (to create a force late in a game, get to a guy lower in the lineup, etc.) or you just don't want to pitch to someone (guy that hits bombs on command, guy that has rep for hitting middle, guys on the hot streak of his life, or hitter is just being a **** so you're proving a point) do you prefer/tend to just put him on or throw garbage hoping to frustrate a good hitter into swing at bad pitches?
I as a pitcher know I would much prefer with a base open see if I could get him to swing at a bad pitch especially if they're known as a free swinger or easily frustrated with no worry of walking him because that's the general idea anyway.
I also know as a hitter I understand situations so at times would know why, but if a guy was just refusing to pitch I may get frustrated and move my feet to be able to take a cut possibly leading to fly out or ground ball after a couple walks
